There
must be an equality of rights between men and
women. Women shall receive an equal privilege
of education. This will enable them to qualify
and progress in all degrees of occupation and
accomplishment. For the world of humanity possesses
two wings: man and woman. If one wing remains
incapable and defective, it will restrict the
power of the other, and full flight will be impossible.
Therefore, the completeness and perfection of
the human world is dependent upon the equal development
of these two wings

The
time must come when the imperative necessity for
the holding of a vast, an all-embracing assemblage
of men will be universally realized. The rulers
and kings of the earth must needs attend it, and,
participating in its deliberations, must consider
such ways and means as will lay the foundations
of the world's Great Peace amongst men. Such a
peace demandeth that the Great Powers should resolve,
for the sake of the tranquillity of the peoples
of the earth, to be fully reconciled among themselves.
Should any king take up arms against another,
all should unitedly arise and prevent him. If
this be done, the nations of the world will no
longer require any armaments, except for the purpose
of preserving the security of their realms and
of maintaining internal order within their territories.
-Bahá'u'lláh- |
| Bahá’u’lláh
has proclaimed the adoption of a universal language.
A language shall be agreed upon by which unity
will be established in the world. Each person
will require training in two languages: his native
tongue and the universal auxiliary form of speech.
This will facilitate inter-communication and dispel
the misunderstandings which the barriers of language
have occasioned in the world. |

God
has given man the eye of investigation by which
he may see and recognize truth. He has endowed
man with ears that he may hear the message of
reality and conferred upon him the gift of reason
by which he may discover things for himself. This
is his endowment and equipment for the investigation
of reality. Man is not intended to see through
the eyes of another, hear through another's ears
nor comprehend with another's brain. Each human
creature has individual endowment, power and responsibility
in the creative plan of God |
| Unto
every father hath been enjoined the instruction
of his son and daughter in the art of reading
and writing and in all that hath been laid down
in the Holy Tablet. He that putteth away that
which is commanded unto him, the Trustees of the
House of Justice are then to recover from him
that which is required for their instruction,
if he be wealthy, and if not the matter devolveth
upon the House of Justice. Verily, have We made
it a shelter for the poor and needy. He that bringeth
up his son or the son of another, it is as though
he hath brought up a son of Mine; upon him rest
My Glory, My Loving-Kindness, My Mercy, that have
compassed the world |

Prejudices
of all kinds--whether religious, racial, patriotic
or political--are destructive of divine foundations
in man. All the warfare and bloodshed in human
history have been the outcome of prejudice. This
earth is one home and native land. God has created
mankind with equal endowment and right to live
upon the earth. As a city is the home of all its
inhabitants, although each may have his individual
place or residence therein, so the earth's surface
is one wide native land or home for all the races
of the humankind |
| Religion
and science are the two wings upon which man's
intelligence can soar into the heights, with which
the human soul can progress. It is not possible
to fly with one wing alone! Should a man try to
fly with the wing of religion alone he would quickly
fall into the quagmire of superstition, whilst
on the other hand, with the wing of science alone
he would also make no progress, but fall into
the despairing slough of materialism |

The
solution to the economic problems of the world
is a spiritual solution. The hearts of men must
be changed by the power of the Manifestation of
God. Men must be taught to see all people as members
of their family. They must hunger for justice
and practice it in their personal, business, and
community lives. They must learn to think of work
in a new way as a form of worship. These changes
in attitude and the economic principles given
by Bahá'u'lláh are the only solution
to economic problems.
Bahá'u'lláh says that everyone must
receive an education and have the opportunity
to develop skills and talents. Then each person
must "engage in some one occupation, such
as arts, trades, and the like." Both idleness
and begging are condemned. "We have made
this--your occupation--identical with the worship
of God, the True One," He says. When one
thinks of his job as a form of worship, he will
want to do his best. He will want to be fair and
honest and will realize that earning money is
only part of the reason for working. |
